University Parking Enforcement is proud to announce the UPE Preferred Housing Student Scholarship. This is the first time that UPE has instituted a scholarship and we invite all students who are eligible to take part in this semi-annual contest.
*Deadline for fall 2010 scholarship entries: August 15, 2010
First Place Winner: The first place UPE preferred housing student scholarship winner will be awarded a
scholarship in the amount of $1000 to be used while a student at BYU or UVU.
The scholarship amount can only be applied towards tuition costs. Also note that the awards are mutually exclusive and one student may be awarded only
one scholarship.
Topic of the essay:
"In light of the present economic situation, define your vision of what a 'true education' should provide to a student."
Your essay should provide answers to some of these captivating questions about education:
Is our education system keeping up with the times?
Are our students equipped with the right skills to face today's competitive world?
As a student, what is your take on the current education system and your vision for change?
Share your thoughts with us and enter to win a $1000 scholarship, which can be used for any BYU or UVU program.

Contest Rules:
- The scholarship essay contest is designed for students looking for higher education opportunities. The minimum qualification that a student must have to be eligible for this scholarship is a High School diploma. The student must meet all admissions requirements and be enrolled in BYU or UVU in order to be eligible for this scholarship. The student must also live in a UPE preferred housing complex. Contact us to find out if your housing complex qualifies. If your complex does not qualify, they may contact us to become a UPE preferred housing complex and will qualify immediately.
- Entries must contain a minimum of 1000 and a maximum of 1500 words.
- The essay must be in English language only. The essay must be typed in Word format, with double spacing between lines. The name, address, email and phone number of the applicant should be typed in the top right hand corner of the document.
- Only one essay will be accepted per person. Only 1 scholarship may be awarded per applicant.
- Entries will be reviewed by a University Parking Enforcement selection committee. The committee's decision will be final and binding.
By accepting the prize, winners grant University Parking Enforcement the right to edit, publish, copy, display and otherwise use their entries in connection with this contest, and to further use their names, likeness/photograph, and biographical information in advertising and promotional materials, without further compensation or permission, except where prohibited by law.
